EXTRACURRICULAR POLICY :
To encourage involvement in extra-curricular activities and to track the performance of individual students, Holy Trinity has instituted letter policies that enable students to earn a letter jacket for participation and success in athletics, academic competitions, fine art competitions and similar activities. Specific guidelines for lettering in each area are determined by the faculty adviser of each activity in question in conjunction with school administrators. These guidelines are available upon request from the appropriate adviser.
Extra-curricular activities include all after-school athletics, cheerleading, academic, and fine arts (choir, theatre) competitions or productions. Any activities, other than detentions or mandatory tutoring/study session which requires attendance after official school hours can be classified as an extracurricular activity.
Transfer students must first meet the 15 school-day ineligible period before they may participate in scheduled TAPPS events. During this period of ineligibility students may participate in practices.
Academic Requirements for Participation:
In order for a student to maintain eligibility for extra-curricular activities, the student is required to maintain a 70 average or above in ALL of their classes during a nine-week quarterly grading period. Class averages will be based on their grades at the end of the nine-week quarterly grading period. In order to help a student avoid having a quarterly grade in a class that is below 70, and to identify any potential problems, the Principal will periodically check all student grades and will notify parents (by phone) if their student has any grades below 70.
Students who do not have a 70 average in all of their classes at the end of a quarter will not be allowed to compete in extra-curricular activities (as defined above) until the next 4.5 weeks when the next round of Progress Reports are issued.*
*Eligibility may only be lost at Report Card time. A student may regain his or her eligibility in 4.5 weeks when the next Progress Reports are issued, IF he or she has raised ALL grades to an average of 70 or above.
